Subject: NBACKUP Restoring to Different Server
Date: September 27, 1990
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
PROBLEM: If you want to backup from one server and restore to another
server using NBACKUP, it works. When you do the restore in
NBACKUP, it does not ask you where you want to restore the
data until you actually start the restore session. It then
comes back and says that this volume does not exist, where
do you want to restore this information to? The problem is
that it does this every time it hits a new subdirectory.
You then have to specify the directory path to tell NBACKUP
where to restore the next subdirectory. If you specify the
wrong directory path, the whole restore is aborted and you
have to start all over.
SOLUTION: There is no other way to restore to a different server.
This problem has been reported to engineering.
